Rippon Festival 2012

I’ve just got home after having one of the best weekends ever down in Wanaka. What was my reason for being there? Of course it was for the magical Rippon Festival which only happens every two years. This was the fourth Rippon Festival I’ve shot and it really is something special. Lynne Christie and her team sure do know how to pick a lineup!

I have to say my highlights were Lord Echo, AhorriBuzz, Trinity Roots and of course Disasteradio. If you have never seen Disasteradio play before, he is a must, he had me, Adan and Joe Lindsay dancing like crazy at the side of the stage with camera in hand, so much fun!

Below are a few of my favourite shots from the day. PAT

Fleet Foxes at Wellington Town Hall

Last night I was lucky enough to get a press pass for the Fleet Foxes gig at the Wellington Town Hall. It was a sold out show and I can see why. They are one of the tightest bands I have ever seen live. There songs blend swimmingly from one to the next for almost two hours! The press pass was for the first 3 songs only which meant I got to enjoy their musical melodies for the rest of the show. I hope you like the images I managed to capture. Off to see Beirut play tonight, sans camera though!

Little Bushman & Electric Wire Hustle

Little Bushman & Electric Wire Hustle both on the same night, in the same venue, incredible! It’s been a while since I’ve seen both bands play and as usual, they blew the crowd away! Thanks for a great show guys!

Big Nudge Pie

Last night saw The Nudge rock San Fran Bath House with the release of their debut album ‘Big Nudge Pie’. Warren Maxwell opened the show with an incredibly fun solo set making use of the loop pedal to create many layers of his talented sounds. Then it was time for The Nudge boys to do what they do best, rock the frickin’ roof off! Loved it!

Close your eyes and think about what makes you happy.

Close your eyes and think about what makes you happy. This is what I asked 33 people to do on my recent trip to Thailand, check out the images below.

Little Bushman & The Nudge

Little Bushman’s third studio album just hit the stores the other week and what better way to launch it than to pack out the Garden Club in Wellington and bring along NZ’s hottest new act, The Nudge, to open for you. Amazing!

Nudge – Chch Fundraising Gig in Wellington

Nudge were the final band to take the stage at the Christchurch benefit concert. They rocked San Fran Bath House all in the aid of fundraising for Architecture for Humanity who will be using the funds to support projects in Christchurch. Great work guys!

Trinity Roots at Wellington Opera House

It’s been over 5 years since Trinity Roots split and last night I was lucky enough to photograph their reunion gig in Wellington. The set was over two hours and was such an incredible sound experience! It brought back all the memories of their final gig that I also shot, the crowd loved it, I loved it and they loved playing in Welly again. Choice!

Trinity Roots – Music is Choice!

I was lucky enough to be at Havana last week for the release of Trinity Roots’ live album, Music is Choice! As well as cracking up the crowd with their sense of humour, they played three beautiful songs which got everybody really excited about their October tour.

I was also super stoked that they used one of my images in the live album artwork. The album is a must have as it also includes the doco which is well worth a watch! Here’s a few snaps from the night.
