This was the third art project I have co-ordinated on the Burma/Thai border and it was the biggest yet! Volunteering for the SpinningTop ‘Little Lotus Project’ was an incredible international crew from NZ, Australia, Singapore and the US. There were 13 of us in total, not including Nyan Soe the art tutor and our two translators. The kids had the most amazing time working with the artists and I know that this was a life changing project for all involved.
We worked on a number of art projects with the kids, including an alphabetical mural, an educational mural, Kidrobot toy designing and a shade sculpture for the kids.
Now the fun of post trip production begins. We are planning exhibitions in NZ, LA and New York, an album featuring NZ and US musicians and a documentary filmed by the wonderful Gareth Moon and Daniel Zana.
If you’d like to keep in touch with the project or support the work SpinningTop does, please visit www.littlelotusproject.org.
Here’s some of my favourite images from the trip. Enjoy.
